Meal and Rest Break Waiver Bargaining Update

On Friday December 5, 2025, WSNA Reps and officers from around the state met with PeaceHealth representatives to bargain a meal and rest break waiver form that we hope to have in effect by Jan 1st, 2026. It is required by WA State law that a waiver form be agreed upon by the employer and the union. This is PeaceHealth's proposed waiver form. Of note, PeaceHealth no longer wants to allow the waiving of meal break timing requirements, meaning a nurse would need to take a lunch break in the first 5 hours of work.

WSNA is proposing the following more extensive waiver form. Our waiver form ensures nurses are aware of their rights and clearly delineates the waiver options given to nurses.

We have another bargaining session with PeaceHealth set for next Friday, Dec 12th. We hope we will be able to come to agreement with PeaceHealth on form that meets the needs of all parties.

In solidarity,

Your WSNA officers
