Cafeteria Time: TWO Times on Tuesday, January 9

Join us at the hospital cafeteria to meet with your WSNA Nurse Rep as well as your amazing officers from 1200 to 1500 and 1700 to 2000 on January 9th! We will be available to answer questions, discuss issues and hand out WSNA swag, and there will be a gift card drawing as well!

How to Find the Contract and Contact Information For Your WSNA Team

Please visit the WSNA webpage for St. Joseph Hospital (this page) to find information about your officer team and their contact information, as well as your contract and all the memorandums of understanding (MOUs). The WSNA website has great resources for members who would like to get more involved, both locally at the hospital as well as at regional and state levels.

Education Expense Reimbursement

Do you know that your contract entitles you to at least $350 per year to cover educational expenses, including professional certification, seminars, conferences and course materials related to approved education leave? Go to MyHR and find the tab for creating an expense report to ensure you receive the funds that you are entitled to. The fund renews on January 1st, so if you have any expenses from last year that you would like to submit, please do so as soon as possible. If you are having any issues accessing your education funds, please let your WSNA Nurse Rep Grace Chesterman know by email at gchesterman@wsna.org. Please use the link below or check the document bar above to view a workflow to help you access the form.

Reminder: To Access EIB for Mandated Quarantine, Call Employee Health!

If you are ill and suspect that your illness requires mandatory quarantine per PeaceHealth policy (for example, if you suspect you have Covid), after you call in to your unit to report your absence, you need to email Employee Health as well! They will determine the amount of time that you are required to quarantine and will supply that information to your scheduler or timekeeper. If you have any issues with accessing your Extended Illness Bank, or need to have PTO that was used to cover a mandated quarantine period refunded, HR will contact Employee Health to determine if you qualify under the EIB MOU. This MOU was a huge win for your negotiating team in 2023 and we want everyone who is eligible to use EIB instead of hard-earned PTO for qualified mandated time away from work.

Please let your WSNA Nurse Rep Grace Chesterman (gchesterman@wsna.org) know if you are having any ongoing issues accessing EIB or if you have any questions about how the MOU affects you.

WSNA Lobby Day in Olympia will be January 24, 2024

WSNA's annual Lobby Day event in Olympia will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. Registration is required to attend and closed on Dec. 29.  If you registered, please be sure to be there.

With a short legislative session ahead of just 60 days, a lot will need to be accomplished in that amount of time. WSNA is still developing our legislative agenda for the 2024 session. You can find information on how that agenda is formed here on our website.

Stay tuned for more information on the 2024 WSNA legislative agenda over the coming weeks leading up to the start of session on Monday, January 8. For questions, please contact Jessica Hauffe, Political Advocacy Manager, at jhauffe@wsna.org

Champions of Change – 2024 Union Leadership Conference

Don’t miss WSNA’s labor training event at Campbell’s Resort in Chelan April 28-30

Join nurses from around the state as we convene to build stronger local units, become more effective leaders, learn more about the national and state labor scenes, celebrate our successes, and strategize for what’s coming next.

If you are a local unit officer, conference committee member, staffing committee member, safety committee member, unit rep/liaison or member in one of WSNA’s local units who is interested in advocating for nurses and becoming more involved in your union, this conference is for you.

If you are interested in a scholarship to attend, please contact WSNA Nurse Rep Grace Chesterman at gchesterman@wsna.org.
