Next week, WSNA at St. Joe’s is celebrating Nurses Week, and that means celebrating you. Union nurses are the backbone of this hospital. You are the ones who advocate, who push for better, and who show up for patients and each other every single day. That work matters, and it deserves to be recognized.
We are proud to stand alongside the best nurses in Washington. WSNA nurses at St. Joe’s make our community stronger, safer, and healthier. Your skill, your grit, and your willingness to speak up for your patients and your profession do not go unnoticed. This week is about recognizing that power and celebrating everything you bring to the table.
To celebrate, we want you to “Treat Yo Self.” From May 4 through May 8, we will be holding daily drawings. To keep things fair, drawings will be split between day shift and evening/night shift.
Each day we will be giving away:
One grand prize winner from each shift will be chosen at the end of the week. Two very lucky nurses, one from day shift and one from evening or night shift, will each win a $500 bundle that includes $250 to the Chrysalis, which can be used at the hotel, restaurant, or spa, a $200 gift card to The Loft, and $50 to Pure Bliss.Winners will be announced each day on the WSNA St. Joe’s Facebook page.
The fun does not stop there. We will also be hosting our monthly in-person Union meet up on Tuesday, May 5 from 1800 to 2000 at Blue Abode. One nurse who joins us will win a 60-minute massage at the Chrysalis Spa, generously donated by the Chrysalis.

We will also be holding our usual cafeteria time on May 5 from 1115 to 1330. Stop by to ask questions, connect with your union, and get entered to win a $25 Fred Meyer gift card.
This week is about more than giveaways. It is about celebrating what it means to be a union nurse. When we stand together, we win better conditions for ourselves and better care for our patients.
Come out, connect, and celebrate being part of the strongest nursing union around.

If you find yourself in a situation that you believe creates unsafe conditions for patients or for you, you should complete a Staffing Complaint / ADO Form as soon as possible.
By completing the form, you will help make the problem known to management, creating an opportunity for the problem to be addressed. Additionally, you will be documenting the facts, which may be helpful to you later if there is a negative outcome.
WSNA also uses your ADO forms to track the problems occurring in your facility. When you and your coworkers take the important step of filling out an ADO form, you are helping to identify whether there is a pattern of unsafe conditions for you or your patients at your facilities. This information is used by your conference committee, staffing committee, and WSNA labor staff to improve your working conditions.
As a union member, you have the right to have a representative present in any meetings with management that could potentially lead to disciplinary action against you.
If called into a meeting with management, read the following to management when the meeting begins:
If this discussion could in any way lead to my being disciplined or terminated, I respectfully request that my union representative be present at this meeting. Without representation present, I choose not to participate in this discussion.
Find out more about this crucial right and how to exercise it to ensure your fair treatment and protection.
