WSNA and Astria Sunnyside Hospital have reached a settlement for the grievance that was filed in June 2023 regarding Low Census and Stand By accrual.

We discovered that nurses who were placed on Low Census or Stand By were not receiving accrual of vacation, holiday or sick beginning with the new Kronos installation in late December or 2021.

This was a difficult grievance, and your Officers fought hard to achieve a resolution.

Initially, it was to be paid, then administration denied the grievance. WSNA advanced the grievance to arbitration and filed a ULP (Unfair Labor Practice) with the National Labor Relations Board.

Astria Human Relations notified us that they were willing to correct the accrual and provide the nurses with lost accruals.

This has been achieved. The accruals have been added and letters are being sent to bargaining unit members.

Nurses will have 30 days to review and bring any disputes to HR regarding the calculations.
