Update regarding the recently ratified WSNA–Astria Sunnyside RN contract

Final Contract Posting

The final, clean copy of the contract has not yet been posted, but it will be shared with members as soon as it is available.

In the meantime, you can review the redlined version of the ratified contract on the WSNA Sunnyside landing page:

  • Visit this web page
  • Click the “Documents” tab
  • Open the document titled “Sunnyside Vote Document”

This redlined version reflects all agreed-upon changes that were ratified by the membership.

Ratification Status and Implementation

The contract has been fully ratified, and all negotiated changes and enhancements are now active.

  • Wage increases and bonuses have already been processed through HR
  • Importantly, the new IBD language is now in effect, including both the scheduling process and compensation

IBD Highlights (Now Active)

IBD Shift Definition

  • If open extra shifts remain 12 days prior to the start of a new schedule, those remaining shifts are designated as IBD shifts
  • Any open shifts that arise on or after 12 days prior to the start of the schedule, or after the schedule begins, are also considered IBD shifts
  • Eligible full-time and part-time RNs who sign up for these shifts receive IBD pay

IBD Compensation

  • Full-time RNs: Paid at double time (2x) for IBD shifts
  • Part-time RNs:
    • Paid at time and a half (1.5x) for IBD shifts
    • Paid at double time (2x) for hours worked above:
      • 40 hours in a week, or
      • 36 hours in a week for 12-hour nurses
  • There is no pyramiding of premiums; when multiple premium rates apply, the higher rate is paid

We appreciate your patience while the final contract document is prepared and posted. Please know that your gains are real, ratified, and enforceable now, and we encourage you to review the redlined document to see the full scope of improvements.

If you have questions or concerns, especially related to IBD scheduling or pay, please reach out to your WSNA Representative Jennifer Jackson at jjackson@wsna.org.
