Pay Increases delayed…

While your wage increases of 4% do go into effect as of December 1, the employer has 90 days to start payment and make all wage increases retroactive to December 1. This is no fault of WSNA.

Labor Relations has indicated that they are working to get the wage increases reflected as soon as possible, it is taking some time to operationalize them.

We ask that you be patient and once these are reflected in your paychecks, be diligent to ensure they are paid retroactively for the right amount

Here is a link to the new pay tables showing hourly wages so that you can see exactly were you are supposed to be.

ATR Bargaining about to begin in early January

UWMC Leadership and a WSNA Bargaining Team of Registered Nurses are gearing up to meet in early January to begin discussions on the movement away from rounding and how ATR (Actual Time Recorded) will be rolled out along with how units will schedule moving forward since the Flexible Scheduling Option (28/160) is going away and the 40 hour work week will begin.

If your unit has been scheduling primarily by the 28/160 scheduling option, we are still looking for RNs to join this Bargaining Team.  Bargaining likely to start early January.  This will be paid time!

If you have an interest in advocating for your RN colleagues, please contact WSNA Nurse Representative Ed Zercher today at ezercher@wsna.org.

WSNA Leadership Conference is fast approaching, and we want you to attend!

WSNA is hosting our bi-annual Leadership Conference in Wenatchee Washington. This will be taking place April 26-28 and will have amazing guest speakers and break out sessions to kick-start your opportunity to be a leader within WSNA and your Local Unit.  Our goal this year is to have 40 RNs from UWMC Montlake attend this conference and bolster the engagement and membership at UWMC ML for our upcoming 2027-2029 Contract Bargaining which will be starting just a year from now.

Stay tuned for your chance to sign up and learn what WSNA is doing in your backyard and around the state.  WSNA Leadership at UWMC will be sponsoring scholarships for registration and conference expenses so that you can attend with little or nothing out of pocket.  We will be sending out more information in the upcoming weeks so stay tuned and secure your spot in this Leadership Conference so that you can make a difference!

Submitting ADOs is essential for the tracking of short staffing

Every time you have a situation where your shift is short-staffed RNs or missing essential support staff,

It is crucial that you fill out and submit an ADO (Assignment Despite Objection)/ Staffing Complaint Form  for review by the Hospital Staffing Committee.

You can find the link to the fillable form here: https://www.wsna.org/union/ado

These forms create a record of each short staffing event and allow WSNA to track trends along with the ability to have discussions around the contributors to being short staffed.  We discuss these in our monthly Hospital Staffing Committee

**Important Reminder**   If you are required to take a break by handing off to another nurse, be sure to file an ADO that the employer is requiring you to take a break while leaving insufficient staff on the unit.

The law states that the employer is responsible for maintaining minimum staffing standards for the entirety of all shifts.

The Buddy System is a blatant violation of this directive!
