Meal and Rest Break Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

The Washington State Nurses Association (WSNA) has successfully negotiated an agreement with Skagit Regional Health (SRH) regarding the provision of meal periods and rest breaks for nurses.
Key Provisions of the Agreement:
- Meal Periods:
- Nurses working 8-hour shifts will receive one unpaid meal period, which must be provided no earlier than three hours and no later than six hours after the start of their shift.
- Nurses working 10-, or 12-hour shifts must receive their meal period no earlier than three hours and no later than seven hours from the beginning of their shift.
- Rest Breaks:
- A 15-minute paid rest break will be provided for every four hours of work.
- Timekeeping for Meal Periods:
- SRH may choose to require nurses to clock in and out for their meal periods. If this option is implemented, advance notice will be provided to staff.
