As we observe Veterans Day, let us take a moment to honor and thank the brave men and women who have served our nation with courage and dedication. Their sacrifices have secured the freedoms and safety we cherish today.

Working in a Veterans Home gives us a special opportunity to show our gratitude in a personal way—through our compassion, our care, and our respect for every resident who has worn the uniform. We also honor the many staff members who have served; and the family members of veterans for their commitment and sacrifice.

Let’s continue to make this day meaningful by recognizing their stories, their service, and their lasting contributions to our country.

It's time to nominate your WSNA Officers for 2025-2028

WSNA local unit officers are elected by the union nurse members every three years. WSNA officers work in collaboration with the Nurse Representative to advocate for bargaining unit nurses. Time commitment is minimal. WSNA provides training for each of these roles. You may nominate yourself or someone else you feel would fill the role well. After nominations close, we will confirm willingness to serve, and electronic elections will be held.

Officer positions include: Chairperson, Co-Chairperson, Secretary/Treasurer, and Grievance Officer.

1. The Chairperson shall preside at all meetings of the unit and be an ex officio member, with vote, of all committees, except the Nominating Committee.
2. The Co-Chairperson shall perform the duties of the chairperson in the absence of the chairperson and shall perform other duties as may be assigned.
3. The position of Secretary/Treasurer is combined and held by one person. This person will keep record of meeting notes and finance reports and be responsible for processing vouchers.
4. The Grievance Officer shall be the liaison between the unit and WSNA to advise and assist WSNA in the Association's dealings with the Employer concerning grievances.
