WSNA is collecting candidates for local unit awards to be presented at the 2024 Union Leadership Conference

WSNA is seeking nominations for local unit members or teams who stepped up in 2022 and 2023.

We have seven categories: Outstanding Local Unit Chair, Adversity, Outstanding Negotiating Team, Outstanding Grievance Officer, Local Unit Star, Membership, and Emeritus. See below for descriptions of categories.

WSNA’s Labor Executive Council will tally results at their March 8 meeting and winners will be celebrated during the 2024 WSNA Union Leadership Conference in Chelan.

Which member of your local unit deserves special recognition? Did your negotiation team do an outstanding job this year? Please submit your nominations by Feb. 16.

To nominate, please complete the nomination form below after reviewing the criteria for each award.

Outstanding Local Unit Chair Award - presented to someone who is known for the ability to get things done. They lead by example, promoting WSNA to their Local Unit members, potential members, and the community around them.

Outstanding Negotiating Team Award - presented to a team that rallied together and did not give up even when it looked like management would never budge.

Outstanding Grievance Officer Award - presented to an individual who assists members in the bargaining unit to understand their rights within the contract and effectively represents the bargaining unit members.

Membership Award - recognizes the work in developing the Local Unit through membership recruitment, improved communications, and community outreach.

Adversity Award - presented to a member or group of members who have faced a particularly difficult challenge within their workplace, and with persistence, perseverance, and determination have prevailed in their fight for truth and justice.

Local Unit Star Award - recognizes a member who stepped forward in the past year to become more involved and made a positive impact.

Emeritus Award - award is presented to a retired WSNA member who has made a significant contribution to their local unit.
