This year, the Washington State Nurses Foundation (WSNF) trustees awarded 24 scholarships to nursing students totaling $86,000!

This year’s scholarship winners come from all walks of life. They have immigrated from Ukraine, Somalia, and Kazakhstan. They have experienced loved ones with critical illnesses. They have dealt with their own mental and physical trauma. They have worked in an oncology ward in Vietnam, been a street medic, and volunteered for the Red Cross. And they represent the best in society. They are passionate about serving vulnerable populations, providing compassionate care, and a world with equitable healthcare.

In addition to general scholarships, WSNF names two designated scholars annually: The Dolores “Deo” Little Scholar and the Judy Huntington Scholar. These awards honor two past WSNA presidents and Hall of Fame inductees. WSNF also works with the Central Washington Region Nurses Association and the Inland Empire Nurses Association to award scholarships to students within their region.

The 2026-2027 scholarship application cycle will open in early December 2025. All ADN, BSN, and graduate students are welcome to apply! Registered nurses pursuing additional education must be WSNA members to qualify.

Thank you to WSNF’s generous donors who helped make it possible to award so many scholarships to so many students.

Since 1982, WSNF has depended on generous donors to support the future of nursing through scholarships.

High costs present a significant barrier to prospective students, and many need financial assistance to attend nursing programs.

WSNF scholarships are given to well-qualified nursing students across Washington state who will soon be joining the profession or are pursuing graduate degrees in nursing.  Donations help ensure students from all corners of the state have access to scholarship support.
