Bargaining Update – Day 4

  • Gdsam1
  • Gdsam3
  • Gdsam2

Well, not a lot happened on Monday… MultiCare only agreed to 2 tentative agreements.

Your bargaining team showed up at 0800 on Monday and didn’t leave until nearly 7 PM.

MultiCare made minimal movement at the bargaining table. They increased their wage proposal by ¼ of a percent in year two, to bring their wage proposal to 3% in year 1, 3.25% in year 2 and 3% in year 3. MultiCare held firm on takeaways like cutting the existing evening shift differential for a majority of hours worked framework, decreasing severance pay for nurses with 15+ years of experience, taking away educational funds for per diem nurses, dissolving guaranteed staffing plan additional resources under the staffing MOU and made no movement on increasing premiums. Management stated that they didn’t feel like discussing ratios and made it clear that they don’t think Good Sam nurses deserve the same wages as Auburn or staffing standards as TG.

On the other hand, your bargaining team continues to fight for the priorities that you told us to fight for! We are fighting for nurse to patient ratios, ending CANM monopolization of bargaining unit work and wages that enable you to live and thrive in this community!

Sign the Petition!

Thank you to everyone who has signed the petition so far! You can find a copy of the petition on our Local Unit Homepage here. Remember – if it’s appropriate to talk about baseball, it’s appropriate to talk about union activities like signing the petition.

Per Diems – if you can’t make it to the hospital to physically sign a petition, you can still make your support to the bargaining team known! If you write “I stand with my bargaining team” and sign your name, you can send a picture of that to GSHaction@wsna.org or 206-553-9794 and your signature will be added to the petition.

Observe Bargaining: Next Negotiations are 3/31 and 4/13

Come see what negotiations look like for yourself! Observers are crucial to keeping the negotiations process open and transparent. Negotiations will take place at MultiCare University starting at 10am. Stay for a few hours or the whole day – we'll provide lunch!

If you’d like to observe any of these negotiation dates, reach out to WSNA Organizer Grace at glamonte@wsna.org or 206-553-9794.

Sip and Chat 3/26

While we are in negotiations, bargaining team members will be hosting informal union meetings with WSNA members. “Sip and Chats” will occur every Thursday from 2000-2100 while we are in negotiations. Click the button to join via Microsoft Teams or call in (206) 485-2614; Passcode: 44078739# to join.

Your WSNA Bargaining Team is requesting that EVERY NURSE wear their WSNA T-Shirt at work (especially on Friday’s & bargaining days)! We also have “I Support My Bargaining Team" buttons and stickers available. We have ordered more shirts that will be here soon. Send us your pictures so that we can share on social media and be sure to tag us on Instagram.

If you are told to take off stickers, buttons, or T-Shirts, ask if discipline could result if you don’t take off the item. If the supervisor says yes, take off the item and please file an ADO.

Learn More about Joining the Contract Action Team

If you want to make sure your unit stays in the loop during negotiations and support our bargaining team, consider joining our Contract Action Team! You’ll be added to a group of nurses across the hospital that coordinate actions and ensure every nurse knows what’s happening at bargaining.

Good Sam Co-Chair Ilia says, “Are you looking to be more active in the union, but not sure where to start? Join the contract action team! Safe staffing, fair pay, and break nurses directly impact the care we have on patients. This is how we advocate for our patients and ourselves.”

For more information, reach out to a member of the bargaining team or WSNA Organizer Grace at glamonte@wsna.org/206-553-9794
