Attention All WSNA RNs: Upcoming Union Steward Trainings!

Union Stewards, previously called Unit Reps, are leaders on their unit that act as an advocate and point-of-contact for their coworkers. Stewards connect with WSNA Local Unit Officers to inform them of what's happening on their units which ensures that every unit has a voice. The resulting greater collective awareness increases WSNA's presence on the ground and leads to more issues being promptly identified and solved.

Ideally, we want one steward for every 10-15 nurses at Good Sam. Attending steward training would be a great next step if you want to learn more about the steward role, get more involved in WSNA with a minimal time commitment, empower yourself and others around you, or get a refresher before contract negotiations begin in the next month or two. Trainings will be held virtually in the month of February.

Steward training covers the basics of contract enforcement and workplace organizing. Topics include:

  • The role of a Union Steward
  • Our rights at work
  • Investigatory Meetings
  • Internal issue organizing for your unit
  • Actions for our next Contract Negotiations

Click this link to sign up for one of the following virtual training sessions:

  • Tuesday February 3, 0900-1015
  • Wednesday February 4, 1900-2015
  • Thursday February 5, 1200-1315

Reach out to WSNA Organizer Grace at glamonte@wsna.org with any questions. Please also reach out if you can’t make one of the listed training dates but want to know more.
