It's pre-negotiation survey time

The current contract between WSNA and the UW Medical Center - Northwest - expires June 30, 2027. WSNA’s elected officers will negotiate with UWMC Administration next year. This survey is our first step in our preparation for contract negotiations. Your input is critical to determining our priorities as we head to the bargaining table. It is vital that we know your issues and concerns prior to the start of the negotiations.

Take a moment to complete this survey now. The power of representation comes from the willingness of registered nurses to unite; our strength is in unity!

Remember, for our union to be an effective, strong, influential voice for you at the negotiation table, we need your membership and involvement. Your survey responses are confidential and will only be accessible to the WSNA negotiating team; identities of respondents will only be visible to WSNA staff; UWMC’s management will not have access to them.

The survey will close Jan. 30, 2027.

Grievance Updates

We have two association grievances currently running for the nurses at UWMC Northwest. Please see the updates below:

  1. RN3 – We have filed a grievance related to the roles and responsibilities of our RN3. The UW has changed the title and expected roles and responsibilities associated with the RN3 role. Why we filed: We want the RN3 role, duties, and expectations listed and written out. We are asking for set admin days/time so that when the RN3 is working on the floor, they aren’t pulling double duty and are able to be a resource when needed. We want more protection for our RN3s.

  2. Workplace safety and retaliation
We are concerned for the staff who are filing ADOs, working on the floor, or feeling that they have been retaliated against by management. We are coming up to this grievance meeting, and we would ask anyone who has had this experience to please come to the meeting (date tbd) and share their experience with leadership. Leadership has reassured us that they are taking this seriously and shared the anti-retaliation policy again. If you are interested, please reach out to your nurse representative, Stephenie Troftgruben (stroftgruben@wsna.org), or any of your local unit officers.

Local Unit Events

The local unit officers and I are working on planning some local unit events, but we need to know what you all would be interested in. Some examples would be a shaved ice truck, tacos, a brewery event, etc. Please provide your ideas to the NW officer email, wsnauwmcnorthwest@gmail.com.

Questions? Contact one of your officers or WSNA Nurse Representative Stephenie Troftgruben, stroftgruben@wsna.org.
